Walton celebrates ICSB and ICMAB corporate award achievements with a grand event

Walton celebrates ICSB and ICMAB corporate award achievements with a grand event

Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, a capital market listed tech-giant and Superbrand, manufactures world-class, environment-friendly, innovative and state-of-the-art technology products while it also ensures strong corporate governance through discipline, transparency and accountability in overall management and the publication of financial reports. 

As a result, Walton has achieved the ‘ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence’ for five consecutive times and the ‘ICMAB Best Corporate Award’ for four consecutive times.

To mark these achievements, Walton arranged a grand event titled “Celebrating Corporate Award Achievements” at Walton’s Corporate Office in Bashundhara in the capital on Saturday (10 January, 2026).

Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman attended the celebration function as the Chief Guest while Chairman of the Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) Professor Abu Ahmed was present as special guest. 

The event was also attended, among others, by Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC’s Vice-Chairman S M Ashraful Alam, Managing Director S M Mahbubul Alam and other officials of the company. 

At the function, Walton Hi-Tech’s Deputy Managing Director and Company Secretary Md. Rafiqul Islam, FCS gave the welcome speech.

Congratulating Walton for receiving best corporate recognitions from different professional institutions, Bangladesh Bank’s Deputy Governor Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman said, In terms of product quality, state-of-the-art technology, and affordable pricing, Walton is ahead of many global brands. 

He added that Walton’s contribution to Bangladesh’s economy is significant. By breaking the dominance of foreign brands in the market, Walton has reduced import dependency and now it has been earning a large amount of foreign currency by exporting products to many countries.

He expressed optimism that Walton will be able to make a strong position in the global market through producing and exporting AI and IoT based high-tech products. 

Speaking at the event, ICB Chairman Professor Abu Ahmed said that Walton’s factory is well-managed and its workforce and production capacity are extensive. He noted that even 15 years ago, the electronics market in Bangladesh was dominated by foreign brands, but Walton has changed that picture. By competing with foreign brands, Walton has been able to achieve market leadership. Walton continues to expand its capacity through regular investment. According to him, Walton has set an example of Bangladesh can produce hi-tech products. 

To make Bangladesh’s economic activities more dynamic, expanded and prosperous, he emphasised that the government should provide supportive policies and tax incentives to facilitate the growth of fundamentally strong companies like Walton.

Walton Hi-Tech’s Managing Director S M Mahbubul Alam said that Walton follows proper compliance across all areas—from its factory establishments to production processes, workplace management, financial reporting, tax payment and corporate governance. In terms of practicing good corporate governance, Walton is one of the leading companies in the South Asian countries and thus it was honoured with ‘SAFA Gold Award’. 

He also said that Walton’s Mold & Die Factory Complex has achieved LEED Platinum Certification as an environmentally friendly factory. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) awarded this certification based on Walton’s sustainable development practices, efficient use of electricity, fuel and water resources, and its environment-friendly approach in factory establishment and operations.

In addition, he mentioned that Walton has received the “Excellence in Investment Award 2025”. For its sustainable clean-energy initiatives, Walton has also achieved the “SDG Brand Champion Award–2025.”

He further added that Walton has installed the country’s largest floating solar power project at its factory premises. Moreover, Walton has taken the initiative to establish Bangladesh’s first lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant. Considering environmental protection, modern green-technology machinery is being installed there. 

He expressed the expectation that once this plant becomes operational, Bangladesh’s dependence on imported lithium-ion batteries will be reduced significantly.

While delivering his closing remarks, Walton Hi-Tech’s Vice-Chairman S M Ashraful Alam said that Walton never compromises on compliance issues. Walton maintains proper compliance across workplace practices, production, financial reports and tax payments. As recognition of this, Walton has been honoured with “Best Corporate Award” honours from various professional institutions such as ICAB, ICSB and ICMAB. 

By cutting a cake at the event, Walton formally celebrated its success in achieving the ‘ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence’ for five consecutive times and the ‘ICMAB Best Corporate Award’ for four consecutive times.
