Retired WWE star John Cena has debuted a striking new look, shaving his head completely as he prepares for his second hair transplant procedure. The 49-year-old actor and former 17-time world champion shared a photo on social media on Monday, proudly displaying his bald head alongside hair restoration surgeon Dr. Ken Anderson at the Anderson Center for Hair .
Cena fully committed to the process, stating he "went all in for best possible results" with this round of treatment. He thanked Anderson and the staff for accompanying him on the journey. The Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) procedure involves transplanting individual hair follicles from one part of the scalp to thinning or balding areas .
From Taunts to Treatment
Cena has been refreshingly open about his decision to address hair loss. Fans who followed his later wrestling career recall a noticeable bald patch at the crown, which became the subject of signs reading "The bald John Cena" . These taunts pushed him to explore treatment options.
"I saw their signs. They pushed me into going to see what my options were," Cena told PEOPLE after his first transplant in November 2024 . He now follows a regimen including red-light therapy, minoxidil, vitamins, and specialized shampoos .
Breaking the Stigma
The actor has become a vocal advocate for destigmatizing hair loss, noting that "seven or eight out of 10 men suffer from thinning or baldness" . He wishes he had sought treatment a decade earlier, saying shame held him back. "It completely changed the course of my life," he said of the first procedure .
The healing process after his initial surgery was intense, with Cena describing significant swelling that left him looking like he had an "alien head" during WrestleMania 42 in April .
Now transitioning fully to Hollywood after completing his 23-year wrestling career with a 2025 retirement tour, Cena joins hair-free WWE alumni Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Dave Bautista. For now, he confidently rocks the bald look, proving the style suits him as he progresses through his restoration journey .
