Lil Wayne has issued a public apology after failing to appear at the opening night of his highly anticipated 20 Years of Carter Classics tour, leaving thousands of fans disappointed in Bangor, Maine.
The Grammy-winning rapper took to Instagram on Wednesday to address the situation, expressing regret to concertgoers who waited hours for his performance at the Bangor Waterfront the previous evening. The show was scheduled to mark the beginning of his extended tour celebrating two decades of his iconic music career.
"My Maine fans I'm so sorry," Wayne wrote in his Instagram post. "The show is being rescheduled to July 28. Please hold on to your tickets, they will be honored for the rescheduled date. More information will be emailed directly to ticket holders."

The 42-year-old artist, whose legal name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., acknowledged the frustration his absence caused and offered heartfelt words to his supporters. "I ain't s--- without you," he added. "I can't wait to come back and give you the show you deserve. Thanks for the inquiry."
According to local reports, opening act 2 Chainz performed his scheduled set as planned, while a DJ continued entertaining the crowd for several hours in hopes that Wayne would eventually take the stage. The rapper had been expected to begin his performance at approximately 10:45 p.m., but by 11 p.m., venue staff informed attendees that the show would not proceed and that they should exit the premises.
The venue had reportedly requested an extension to the city's noise curfew in an attempt to accommodate the delayed performance, but the request was ultimately unnecessary as the rapper never arrived.
Ticket holders for the cancelled performance have been assured that their tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled July 28 date. Organizers have stated that additional information will be sent directly to purchasers via email regarding the new performance details.
Despite the opening night setback, Wayne is still expected to continue with the remaining dates of his 20 Years of Carter Classics tour. His next scheduled performance is set for Thursday at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, New York.
The tour celebrates the 20th anniversary of Wayne's debut studio album, "Tha Carter," which launched the New Orleans native into hip-hop superstardom and established him as one of the most influential figures in the genre. The extended tour includes multiple dates across the United States, with fans eagerly anticipating the rapper's return to the stage.
Representatives for Lil Wayne have not provided additional details regarding the circumstances that led to his absence from the Bangor performance.
