Just days before Courtney Smith and Hamilton “Hammy” Morley were set to exchange vows, an unexpected guest stole the spotlight at their Brooklyn wedding welcome party. Pop star Joe Jonas made a surprise appearance—though not in person, but through a pre-recorded video that left the bride in tears and guests in shock. The Jonas Brothers singer, who finalized his divorce from actress Sophie Turner in September 2024, offered a lighthearted take on marriage while playfully crashing the celebration. 

The couple’s welcome party took place on June 4 at their favorite Brooklyn restaurant, Gersi, with about 100 friends and family members in attendance. The evening took an unexpected turn when two guests carried in a television and held it up for everyone to see. On the screen appeared Joe Jonas, delivering an over-the-top performance that began with a dramatic record scratch and a theatrical collapse to his knees. 

After regaining his composure, the 36-year-old singer shared what he called “sage advice” for the soon-to-be newlyweds. He compared marriage to life in the Jonas Brothers, emphasizing that communication is essential, matching outfits are inevitable, and despite any creative differences, the couple will always come back for the encore. 

Jonas concluded his message by raising a glass to the couple and wishing them happiness “until the year 3000,” a playful reference to the band’s hit song. The bride, who had jokingly mentioned months earlier that having Joe Jonas involved in her wedding would make her “whole wedding,” was completely shocked by the gesture. Smith later shared her reaction on TikTok, writing, “I will never recover from this @joejonas,” and inviting him to join them for a drink. 

The surprise was coordinated by Smith’s colleagues, who had worked with Jonas on past projects and reached out to him for the cameo. According to Smith, Jonas edited the video himself and took time out of his busy schedule to create the personalized message. Guests were reportedly stunned by the unexpected appearance, and Smith described the entire experience as a “fever dream.” 

The wedding took place the following day at The Liberty Warehouse in Brooklyn, marking the culmination of a four-year relationship for the couple.
