The 19th Annual General Meeting of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC was held on Tuesday (28 October 2025) at Kurmitola Golf Club in the capital

Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC (WHILPLC), one of Bangladesh’s leading tech giants and a superbrand in the local market, successfully held its 19th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, 28 October 2024, at Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka. The event saw a large turnout of institutional and general shareholders.

Shareholders expressed their appreciation for the company’s bold decision to distribute a 175% cash dividend, despite ongoing political instability in the country and challenging business conditions both locally and internationally. Many were also thrilled by Walton’s announcement of a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant, highlighting the company’s commitment to innovation.

The shareholders voiced confidence that Walton’s global footprint could soon extend to over 100 countries, reinforcing its position as a major international player.

The AGM was presided over by Chairman S M Shamsul Alam, with Vice-Chairman S M Ashraful Alam, Managing Director S M Mahbubul Alam, Directors S M Nurul Alam Rezvi and S M Monjurul Alam Ovee, and Independent Directors Samsul Alam Mallick, Professor Dr. M. Sadiqul Islam, and Akhter Matin Chaudhury present on stage. High officials, auditors, regulatory representatives, guests, well-wishers, and numerous shareholders also attended. Several directors, including S M Rezaul Alam, Tahmina Afrose Tanna, and Raisa Sigma Hima, participated virtually. The meeting was moderated by Company Secretary Md. Rafiqul Islam, FCS.

In his welcome speech, Chairman S M Shamsul Alam highlighted Walton’s global achievements, saying the “Made in Bangladesh” brand has gained international recognition through innovation, skilled manpower, and technology-driven industrialization. Walton products are now exported to more than 50 countries, significantly contributing to the nation’s foreign currency earnings. He emphasized that Walton continues to drive national development through sustainable growth, innovative research, eco-friendly production, and job creation.

Walton’s Managing Director, S M Mahbubul Alam, presented the annual report for 2024-25, outlining the company’s financial performance and future plans. He noted that the year posed challenges due to global trade instability and domestic political issues, but Walton overcame them through strategic planning and cost management. As a result, the company recorded profits exceeding one thousand crore taka and remains optimistic about continued growth.

Highlighting international marketing efforts, the Managing Director shared that Walton has become the regional official sponsor of Argentina’s world champion football team, featuring stars like Messi and Martinez in global branding campaigns. This initiative is expected to help expand Walton’s presence in over 100 countries.

During the AGM, shareholders unanimously approved the financial statements, Audit Report, Directors’ Report, 175% Cash Dividend, and 10% Stock Dividend for the year 2024-25. The meeting also confirmed the appointments of A Qasem & Co. Chartered Accountants as Statutory Auditors and Mohammad Sanaullah & Associates as Corporate Governance Compliance Auditors for the 2025-26 financial year, along with their remuneration.
