When Sonali was diagnosed with third stage metastatic cancer in 2018, life naturally turned upside down. After a tough fight, he started his second innings in acting with 'The Broken News' series in 2022. But after his recovery, his mentality changed completely.

Sonali said that she had to spend a long period of her life through a very difficult and dark time. That's why after recovering he wanted to do something that would keep him mentally light and happy. His main aim was to work in funny films like 'Love Ke Liye Kuch Vi Kerega'.

The actress clarifies, "I wanted to do something that wouldn't push me into a new depression." Then why did you suddenly agree to act in a mind-numbing serial like 'Rakh'? Sonali herself admitted, the script of this OTT series has turned all her plans upside down. The story and his character were so great that he couldn't say no to the director's face even if he wanted to.

The experience of working with co-star Ali Fazal was also wonderful. But Sonali is not very happy with her screen time in this series. According to him, there was an opportunity to show Sonali's character a little more time on screen.

  However, this popular heroine of the nineties sees the decision of this work as a positive one. He feels that the style of storytelling has changed a lot in the present time. With the help of OTT, actors of any age are now getting opportunities to act in wonderful roles, which were unthinkable in earlier days.
