King Charles III has issued a heartfelt message of condolence to the people of Venezuela following the devastating twin earthquakes that have claimed more than 900 lives and caused widespread destruction across the South American nation.

The British monarch released a personal statement addressing the "people of Venezuela," expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy that has left thousands injured and countless others displaced. The 77-year-old sovereign said he and Queen Camilla were "deeply saddened to learn of the devastating earthquakes that have struck your country."

The statement, shared through the royal family's official channels, offered sympathy to those who have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods. The King acknowledged the emergency responders working tirelessly to support those in desperate need and praised the strength and resilience demonstrated by the Venezuelan people during this difficult time .

The earthquakes, which struck with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 within seconds of each other, have caused catastrophic damage, particularly along Venezuela's northern Caribbean coast. The epicenter was located approximately 100 miles west of the capital, Caracas, where entire buildings have been reduced to rubble .

Authorities have confirmed that at least 920 people have died, with more than 3,300 injured. Over 50,000 people remain unaccounted for, and officials expect the death toll to rise as search and rescue operations continue . More than 215 aftershocks have been recorded since the initial quakes .

In response to the disaster, the United Kingdom has deployed a 68-person specialist search and rescue team, which departed from RAF Brize Norton on Friday. The contingent includes firefighters and specialists from fourteen UK fire and rescue services, six trained search dogs, and drones to assist in locating survivors trapped in the debris .

The British government also announced an initial £2 million ($2.7 million) in humanitarian funding to support relief efforts. Acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez has acknowledged the King's message and expressed gratitude for the gesture of support .

As rescue teams work against time to find survivors in the hardest-hit areas, the international community continues mobilizing resources to assist Venezuela in its recovery efforts .
