During a surprise performance in New York City, 20-year-old singer-songwriter Sombr brought his set to an abrupt halt after realizing he had lost a treasured necklace gifted by his close friend and mentor, Taylor Swift.

The rising artist, known for hits like "Back to Friends," was mid-concert when he noticed the meaningful piece of jewelry was no longer around his neck. Visibly distressed, Sombr immediately paused the show to search for the item, which he has called his “good luck charm.”  The heartfelt moment quickly circulated on social media, resonating deeply with fans.

Sombr’s reaction underscored the profound significance of the friendship with Swift, who has a history of supporting emerging talent. The connection between the artists has been in the spotlight recently, as Sombr performed a tribute at the 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony where Swift was inducted. He performed a medley of her songs, including “Cardigan” and “Dear John,” during the event.

The “Homewrecker” singer’s distress quickly turned to relief when the necklace was located. He entrusted it to his team for safekeeping, ensuring the token of their friendship would not be misplaced again. The incident, captured by concertgoers, shows the "back to friends" singer in a vulnerable moment of panic over a deeply personal item.

Fans on X (formerly Twitter) flooded the platform with sympathetic reactions. One user wrote, "that's actually really sweet. It clearly meant a lot to him,” while another joked, “Imagine explaining to Taylor Swift that you lost the necklace she gave you.” The clip’s viral spread highlighted the strong connection between the artist and his fanbase, the "Swifties," who understood the gravity of losing a gift from the pop icon. A third added, “Losing a gift from Taylor Swift? I’d stop the show too.”

Sombr, born Shane Michael Boose, has rapidly ascended in the music industry. Growing up in New York City and honing his talents at LaGuardia High School, he gained significant recognition with viral hits following the release of his EP, In Another Life. His career achieved breakout status in 2025 with singles like "Back to Friends" and "Undressed," earning him a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist and a strong presence on the Billboard charts.

The quick recovery of the necklace allowed the show to continue, but the brief incident offered a rare glimpse into the young star’s personal connections and the immense value he places on his relationships, proving that even chart-topping artists hold onto their lucky charms with the same passion as their fans.
