New Delhi: Many people do not trust to keep gold, jewelry or money at home for fear of theft. Bank Locker is considered safe in that case. Keeping all the valuables in this locker, its key is handed over to the customer.
This key needs to be taken care of. But many times the bank locker key can be lost inadvertently. What to do if the key of this locker is lost? What is the penalty for losing the locker key?
If one loses the bank locker key, one should contact the bank branch immediately without wasting time and report the matter in writing to the manager. Apart from this, FIR should be lodged at the police station as security. Lockers are broken only in the presence of the customer – if the key is lost, the bank takes the help of a technician from the locker manufacturing company to generate a new key or open the locker.
Under this process, the locker is securely broken and a new lock is installed and new key is issued. This entire process is done in front of the customer, so that transparency is maintained. In this case, it should be noted that the customer has to bear the cost of breaking the locker or making a new lock and key.
The amount of this cost depends on the bank's policy and the size of the locker.
