If any irregularity is found, the government can also send a notice to Meta. Online fraud is on the rise in India. Fraudsters are using a variety of messaging platforms to commit fraud.

As the mobile number will not be visible in this new system of WhatsApp, only the user name will be visible, so this system can make it more convenient for fraudsters.  That is why the central government is looking into the 'User ID' feature. What did WhatsApp say? WhatsApp has said that new features of this popular messaging app are coming soon across the world.

This new feature will be added in the next few months. In this, instead of revealing their mobile number, users will be able to start talking to a stranger (whose number is not already saved) using their unique username. This username can be created through the app itself.

But whether a user creates that username or not is up to him. Users can also change or delete their username if they want. When this feature is launched, WhatsApp users will be able to contact someone new with their username.

There will also be options to block or report. Why worry? WhatsApp company claims, this feature will strengthen privacy.

However, according to many experts, if only the username is seen, fraudsters can use this name to trick ordinary people. But WhatsApp argues, they have put multiple security measures in place.
