Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed hands over the Bangladesh Business Awards as the recognition of the ‘Best Enterprise of the Year’ to Walton Hi-Tech’s Managing Director S M Mahbubul Alam

Bangladesh’s homegrown superbrand and tech powerhouse Walton has done it again—bagging the coveted ‘Best Enterprise of the Year’ title at the 23rd DHL-The Daily Star Bangladesh Business Awards 2024.

The grand ceremony, jointly hosted by DHL Express and The Daily Star, took place on September 23, 2025, at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka. The glittering event brought together business leaders, policymakers, and innovators who have been driving Bangladesh’s economic growth.

This isn’t the first time Walton has secured the spotlight. The company previously won the same honour back in 2014. This second victory underlines Walton’s transformative role in reshaping Bangladesh’s electronics market—from being an import-dependent sector to becoming globally competitive.

The ‘Best Enterprise of the Year’ award was handed over by Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed, the chief guest of the evening. Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC’s Managing Director, S M Mahbubul Alam, proudly accepted the trophy. Commerce Adviser SK Bashir Uddin graced the event as the special guest, while DHL Express Bangladesh’s Managing Director Md. Miarul Haque and The Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam represented the organizers.

In his acceptance speech, Walton’s MD S M Mahbubul Alam expressed heartfelt gratitude to customers, investors, and well-wishers.

“This award belongs to the people who trust and support Walton,” Alam said. “We are now moving ahead with the vision of transforming Walton into one of the world’s best global brands, while positioning Bangladesh as a hub for advanced, innovative, and eco-friendly smart electronics.”

Walton has already made waves with its AI and IoT-powered smart refrigerators and air conditioners, setting new benchmarks in the electronics industry. The company is exporting “Made in Bangladesh” products to more than 50 countries across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and America. Alam believes this recognition will fuel Walton’s expansion in global markets even further.

Since its inception in 2000, the DHL-The Daily Star Bangladesh Business Awards have celebrated visionaries whose leadership, resilience, and innovation push the nation forward.

This year’s 23rd edition recognised three individuals and two organisations under five categories: Business Person of the Year, Best Financial Institution of the Year, Best Enterprise of the Year, Outstanding Woman in Business, and Lifetime Achievement Award.

With this prestigious award, Walton has once again proven that a Bangladeshi brand can compete shoulder-to-shoulder with global giants while showcasing the country’s rising strength in technology and innovation.
