Kolkata: An arrest warrant has been issued against Sumit Roy, Abhishek Banerjee's PA in connection with the fraud and land corruption case. Sumit is still missing. More strict action by the officials after the search operation.
A complaint of financial corruption and land fraud was filed against Sumit at Shalboni police station. In 2022, this Sumit Roy's name also came up in the coal smuggling case. His name was the key witness in the coal case.
The Enforcement Directorate summoned him several times in that case. Sumit and Abhishek are said to have studied together in a Kolkata school till class 12th. Later Abhishek moved to Delhi to do MBA.
Due to lack of financial support Sumit did MBA in Calcutta. Sumit calls Abhishek 'Sir' despite being a classmate. He looked after all the work of Abhishek.
Investigators searched several places for Sumit last Saturday. According to sources, the last 'tower location' of Sumit's mobile was at Abhishek's house. Based on that source, the police reached Patuapara in Kalighat around 3 am.
When no one answered the call, the lock of the outer door of the house was broken. However, Sumit was not found. The police left Abhishek's house after 8 am.
The police have issued an arrest warrant against Sumit so far. Meanwhile, Abhishek faced 8 and a half hours of CID interrogation on Sunday itself. Kunal and Abhishek were interrogated face to face.
He was summoned again on Monday in the recruitment corruption case. Now he is under interrogation by ED. In the meantime, Abhishek's arrest warrant has been issued against Apta's assistant.
