The beloved Texas-based convenience store chain Buc-ee’s is doubling down on its national footprint, with dozens of new locations in various stages of development across the United States. The aggressive expansion follows the recent debut of its westernmost outpost, signaling the brand’s ambition to bring its famous brisket, clean restrooms, and Beaver Nuggets to a broader audience than ever before.
Earlier this month, the company opened its doors in Goodyear, Arizona, marking a significant milestone for the brand just outside of Phoenix. The grand opening drew massive crowds, with enthusiastic fans queuing for hours to experience the sprawling travel center. During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, CEO Arch "Beaver" Aplin III hinted that the Grand Canyon State could see additional stores in the future, though specific timelines and locations remain under wraps.
Currently, Buc-ee’s has confirmed active projects or proposals in no fewer than 16 states, ranging from the West Coast to the Midwest. In Arkansas, the chain is preparing to open its inaugural location in Benton this August, with a second site in West Memphis slated to follow in 2028.

Florida remains a key growth area, with locations in Fort Pierce and Tallahassee forecasted to open next year. The Sunshine State is also planning stores in Ocala, with a projected 2029 debut, and Port Charlotte. Meanwhile, Georgia broke ground on a new store in Forsyth in March; if construction proceeds without delays, that site could be operational by 2027.
The Midwest is experiencing significant activity, particularly in Indiana, where Buc-ee’s is pursuing a location in Greenwood, just south of Indianapolis. Documents filed with local authorities reveal plans to rezone nearly 40 acres for the project, and there are indications the retailer is also eyeing a potential site in Whitestown.
In Kansas, the company is on track to open its first-ever store in Kansas City next year. Similarly, Louisiana is preparing for its inaugural locations, with stores in Ruston and Lafayette expected to welcome customers in 2026. Nebraska is also in the running, as officials in Gretna have approved plans that could lead to a groundbreaking this fall.
Several other states are anticipating their first Buc-ee’s locations, including North Carolina, where a store in Mebane is scheduled for next year, and Wisconsin, which will host what is expected to be the northernmost location in Oak Creek. Virginia is progressing with approved sites in Stafford County and a longer-term project in New Kent County targeting a 2031 opening.
Ohio recently opened its first store in April and is already considering a second location in Mansfield, although a petition opposing the development has gained some traction. Tennessee is preparing to open a store in Murfreesboro this fall, with another under construction near Gallaway for next year. Texas continues to expand in its home state with a new location set for San Marcos this August and work reportedly underway in Boerne.
Other states in the pipeline include Kentucky, where delays have pushed the Oak Grove opening to 2029; South Carolina, where work has commenced in Hardeeville; and Utah, which has approved a site in Springville that will rival the Arizona location for the title of westernmost store. According to the company, the construction timeline for these massive travel centers typically spans 18 to 24 months.
