Allegedly, the company illegally made changes to Prime's subscription contracts without compensating Prime subscribers.

As a result, more than 1 million subscribers were affected between November 2023 and August 2025. Meanwhile, Amazon Prime's annual fee saw eight and a half million Australians take out a year-long subscription.  Not wanting to pay extra, customers had to use the downgraded version for an annual fee. Complaints have been made not only about advertising on Amazon Prime, but also about many of its policies. As Amazon Prime does not offer any refunds or compensation to subscribers.

A case has been filed on the allegation that lakhs of customers have been cheated. Amazon Prime said it is looking into the complaint.
