Saif Ali Khan recently shared a surprising anecdote from the shooting of the cult classic film Omkara, revealing that director Vishal Bhardwaj once asked him to perform a scene completely nude. According to TV9 Bangla, Saif recalled this explosive yet humorous incident in a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter India.

In the interview, Saif described how Bhardwaj approached him on set with an unconventional request during the filming of a pivotal scene. The director wanted Saif to stand naked in front of a mirror and deliver a lengthy dialogue, heightening the intensity of his character Langda Tyagi's rage. Despite the thrilling idea, the crowded set made Saif hesitant.

True to his witty nature, Saif countered the director's proposal with a playful challenge: if Bhardwaj himself could direct the scene while nude, only then would Saif agree to strip for the shot. Bhardwaj politely declined, and the scene was ultimately changed at the last minute.

Looking back after two decades since Omkara's release, Saif expressed some regret about not going through with the nude shot. He admitted, "Today, I would have no objection to shooting that scene naked. Vishal was going to film the silhouette from behind, so it would have looked brilliant on screen. We were experimenting with new ideas back then, and this would have been amazing. Honestly, if I got the offer now, I would definitely say yes."

Instead of the original plan, Bhardwaj improvised a final concept moments before shooting. Saif revealed, "I was supposed to deliver a long monologue in front of the mirror, where Langda Tyagi vents his anger, saying, 'You didn’t make me Bahubali, now I will take my revenge...' But just before the shot, Vishal told me, 'I don’t want you to say any dialogue. I have a brilliant new idea.'"

The new idea involved Saif standing silently in front of the mirror while the camera moved towards him on a trolley. He was handed a heavy hammer or iron piece and instructed to smash the mirror in a way that the shattered glass would fragment his face into pieces. Additionally, Saif was to smear the blood from a cut on his hand across his forehead like a royal tilak. This powerful, wordless expression of fury and vengeance became an iconic moment in the film.

Saif enthusiastically recalled how Vishal Bhardwaj's creative vision turned the scene into pure cinematic magic, capturing Langda Tyagi's intense emotions in a single take without any dialogue.
