John Stamos has no interest in joining the cast of Dancing With the Stars, despite repeated invitations from producers over the years. The 62-year-old Full House and Fuller House actor made his stance crystal clear during a recent appearance on The Bobbycast.
According to geo.tv, Stamos told host Bobby Bones on the July 7 episode that he has been asked to compete on the ABC dance competition every single season. His response has remained consistent: he wants no part of it. "I said, 'Don't ever ask me again,'" Stamos recalled. "I'm never gonna do that show."
His reasoning centers on the physical toll and public embarrassment the competition often involves. "What makes that show good is people suffering and looking like fools," he explained. "They're breaking their feet, callouses. I don't want that."
Stamos demonstrated that he follows the show closely enough to hold strong opinions about its outcomes. He directly confronted Bones, who won the Mirrorball Trophy in season 27, about beating Stamos's Fuller House co-star Juan Pablo Di Pace. Di Pace was eliminated just before the finals that season.
"That guy should've won that year and you shouldn't have won," Stamos said. "He got 10s all the way across the board, and you came in and somehow won." He jokingly suggested the results were "rigged" and added that he nearly called ABC to complain.
The conversation also touched on Stamos's personal history with the show’s judging panel. He teased that he once dated one of the current judges back in the 1990s. Bones found the guessing game easy. The judge is Carrie Ann Inaba, who later confirmed the relationship herself during a 2018 appearance on The Talk.
Inaba recalled meeting Stamos when she was a "Fly Girl" on In Living Color. "The dreamiest thing happened," she said. "Somebody was like, 'Somebody wants to meet you across the room.' The room parted and on the other side of the room was John Stamos." She described their brief romance fondly, calling Stamos "the loveliest human being in the whole world."
Why this matters
Dancing With the Stars remains one of ABC’s longest-running reality competition series, pairing celebrities with professional dancers for live performances judged by a panel and voted on by viewers. The show has launched or revived careers while delivering memorable moments of triumph and physical challenge for participants. Stamos, a veteran television star known for his roles in Full House, ER, and General Hospital, represents the type of high-profile talent producers often pursue for the series.
Stamos’s candid remarks highlight both the appeal and the demanding nature of the competition, offering fans a glimpse into why some celebrities choose to step away from the spotlight on the dance floor.
